FEMA Extends Deadline for Colorado Flood Victims
At the request of the State of Colorado, FEMA has approved an extension for storm and flooding survivors to register for federal disaster assistance. The new registration deadline is November 30, 2013, which is also the new deadline to complete and return low-interest U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) disaster loan applications. Survivors who register may be eligible for federal grants to help cover various disaster-related expenses, including rent, essential home repairs, personal property losses and other serious disaster-related needs not covered by insurance. The extension is for all 11 Colorado counties designated for federal Individual Assistance: Adams, Arapahoe, Boulder, Clear Creek, El Paso, Fremont, Jefferson, Larimer, Logan, Morgan and Weld....

The water situation in Pinewood today is about the same. One of our filtration systems is still not functioning. The repair engineer is having difficulty finding parts. One source told him it would be January. Therefore, the Water Board has called for a voluntary conservation of water. Since we are only making about half our normal production, they ask that you only use about half as much water as you normally would until the treatment plant is fully operational. Practice yellow-mellow, brown-down and try to use rainwater or gray water to flush. Haul in your drinking and cooking water. Take your washing to a laundry mat. Use paper plates and cups. CDOT and the National Guard finished the temporary repairs to highway 36 nearly one month ahead of schedule. The road reopened on Monday, November 4th after a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the Apple Valley Bridge. Traffic may now flow freely from Lyons to Estes Park without any restrictions. Permanent repairs will begin in the spring of 2014.
