River Crossings at Kiowa and Cree Open This Weekend

The temporary crossings at Kiowa Road and Cree Court are open for the weekend, thanks to an extra effort by our contractor, Bladeworks. This is an opportunity for residents of those two isolated areas to get back in to get out vehicles and check out their homes.

Access will again be restricted next week as work continues at both crossings. We ask that people who don’t live in this work zone please stay out of these areas to give the residents as much access as possible during this weekend.

Next week, in conjunction with the road work, we expect to begin the work necessary to bury waterlines in the river bed. Significant work remains before water will be restored.

Is the expectation still that water can be restored to the Island areas before Thanksgiving?

Went ho.me to the Island last night. Going across was not great. Sure hope they make great improvements before too long. There is a VERY narrow part going down off of Kiowa that curves sharply. It was muddy and slippery last night. I was going very slow and my jeep still slid a little. BIG drop offs! Water? WHO knows when?

Also I was wondering what the weight limit is for the crossings at Kiowa and Cree court with the recent culvert and rock crossings?
