Town of Lyons Access for Residents, Businesses, and Contractors
Lyons, Colorado – (via Lyons Recorder) The Town of Lyons has developed procedures for allowing Lyons residents, businesses, and contractors in and out of town limits. Beginning Monday, Sept. 23, a traffic checkpoint will be operational 24/7.
Minimizing non-essential traffic will help accelerate the county’s/town’s recovery and repair efforts. Therefore, the Town of Lyons kindly requests that trips in and out by residents and authorized contractors be done only on an essential as-needed basis only.
Residents
As of 2 p.m. on Saturday, resident/business passes into Lyons were no longer available for pick-up at Lifebridge Church in Longmont. Beginning Monday, Sept. 23, Lyons residents and businesses will no longer be required to obtain a pass to access the town and surrounding county areas.
Residents must provide proof of address/residence in at least one of two forms:
· Driver’s License; or
· Utility bill
Residents are strongly encouraged to minimize their travel as much as possible. The town requests that most residential trips take place between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m., but residents who work night shifts or come in after hours will be accommodated.
Contractors
Beginning Monday, Sept. 23, Contractors will be provided access to Lyons from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Before working in Lyons, contractors will need to visit the Disaster Assistance Center at the Twin Peaks Mall (1250 Hover St.) in Longmont to pick up a permit. They will be required to provide the following information:
· Address of the work to be performed;
· Contractor license;
· Letter from the Lyons resident or business that has hired the contractor; and
· Proof of insurance.
Contractors with “official business” in Lyons (e.g., working with the town or county to make repairs) may be allowed into and out of Lyons outside of the normal checkpoint hours of 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Contractors who circumvent the checkpoint or approval process or contractors that are found soliciting work within Lyons will risk losing their permit.
