Iroquois Road Now Open

I am pleased to announce that Iroquois Road is now available for use allowing heavy vehicles to bypass the five ton weight restricted Seneca bridge. Our contractor, Bladeworks, has built a ramp from Cree Court to the damaged end of Iroquois. Fire, propane, garbage, and other heavy trucks can now access the previously inaccessible area by taking Kiowa to the first Wichita Road intersection to Cree Court to Iroquois. The road is open but there will be periods, once roadbase material becomes available, when there may be restricted use while the road is surfaced. Donn Fairbank Chair, PWS Road Board

Letter from the Pinewood Springs Water Board

The Pinewood Springs Water District is, like everyone else, elated about the opening of US 36 between Lyons and Estes Park.  The residents along US 36 have had to deal with inconvenience and limited access while work on US 36 was underway.  It should be noted that US 36 was opened so quickly at the expense of many other infrastructure projects that were delayed in order to limit traffic while the highway was under repair.  Century Link, for example, could not get to much of their damaged equipment due to the travel restrictions.  It was also difficult for the local districts to get materials in and out of the area.  One should be very careful when saying that US 36 is open so: “Why isn’t my water on?”, or “Why isn’t my phone working?”, or “Why...

Larimer County Releases “After the Flood” Video

Larimer County Releases “After the Flood” Video

The mid-September 2013 Flood in northern Colorado devastated many communities. The Board of Larimer County Commissioners has released a 7-minute video ‘Larimer County – Life After the Flood’ detailing the flood damage and the recovery efforts made by a host of entities in Larimer County. Mountain roads were hit especially hard in the flood and it has taken until now to create access with temporary roads for residents. Commissioner Chair Steve Johnson spear-headed the project, “Larimer County is committed to responding immediately to natural disasters to help citizens. I felt the video was the best way to show citizens how we are working to restore their lives to as close to normal as possible. The video also serves to show people from all over the county the...

Water System Update

The water situation in Pinewood today is about the same. One of our filtration systems is still not functioning. The repair engineer is having difficulty finding parts. One source told him it would be January. Therefore, the Water Board has called for a voluntary conservation of water. Since we are only making about half our normal production, they ask that you only use about half as much water as you normally would until the treatment plant is fully operational. Practice yellow-mellow, brown-down and try to use rainwater or gray water to flush. Haul in your drinking and cooking water. Take your washing to a laundry mat. Use paper plates and cups. Take shorter showers and perhaps skip a day. If we all work together, we can make it through this shortage without...
